Overview PVC Schedule 80 in 3" (OD 3.500", wall 0.300") carries a pressure rating of 550 PSI — substantially higher than Schedule 40 — making it the choice for pump discharge manifolds, booster station piping, chemical-injection headers, and any application where higher working pressure, greater wall thickness for threaded connections, or increased impact resistance is required. The grey colour distinguishes Schedule 80 from white or cream Schedule 40 in the field, reducing misidentification during installation and inspection. Manufactured to ASTM D1785, Schedule 80 PVC is listed NSF 14/61 and compatible with both solvent-weld and threaded connections — its heavier wall provides sufficient material for cutting NPT threads directly into the pipe when fittings are not available. This pipe is also specified for chemical-feed lines, irrigation pump manifolds, and UV-exposed above-grade runs (grey pigment provides better UV resistance than white PVC). Compatible with all IPS Schedule 80 fittings, valves, and nipples.
