Fish-safe epoxy pond coating, 1.5 quart kit, Delta Blue

Pond Shield is a two-part, non-toxic epoxy from Pond Armor that waterproofs ponds, waterfalls, fountains, birdbaths and aquariums. It bonds to concrete, brick, block, stone, wood, fiberglass, most metals and most plastics, and stays flexible, so it resists mimic cracking from the concrete beneath. This kit covers up to 60 sq ft (5.6 m²) at the recommended 10 mil (0.25 mm) thickness.

Where it works

• Koi and goldfish ponds, streams and waterfalls
• Fountains, birdbaths and aquariums: safe for fish, plants and marine life
• Fresh, chlorinated and salt water
• A stand-alone coating, self-priming on most surfaces

Applying it

• Give the surface some texture: acid etch concrete and masonry, sand smooth surfaces with 60-grit
• Mix Part A and Part B 2:1 (pre-measured in the kit), and only as much as you can apply in 20 to 30 minutes
• Finish at 10 mils, about three sheets of paper: one coat on smooth surfaces, two on rough ones
• Put the second coat on within 1 to 10 hours, or sand first
• Cure at least 24 hours before filling
