Overview Regency 14 AWG single-conductor wire is a direct-burial PVC-jacketed solid copper conductor used for controller-to-valve wiring in residential and commercial irrigation systems. The heavier 14-gauge conductor reduces voltage drop over longer wire runs compared to standard 18-gauge multi-conductor cable, making it the preferred choice for large properties, golf courses, and commercial sites where valve runs exceed 1,000 ft from the controller. Each colour of jacket allows field technicians to identify and trace individual zone circuits at splice points, junction boxes, and valve manifolds without a tone generator. The black jacket is colour-coded to match standard irrigation field wiring conventions: white is typically the common return, red the master valve, and additional colours designate individual zone circuits. The PVC jacket is rated for direct burial in soil without conduit, though conduit is recommended in rocky soils or where mechanical damage is possible during future excavation. Sold cut to length; use UL-listed waterproof splice connectors at all below-grade connections. Compatible with 24 VAC solenoid valve coils from all major manufacturers.
