ClorAm-X liquid ammonia remover and chloramine neutralizer, 1 US gallon (3.78 L)
Buffered ClorAm-X uses a patented molecule to destroy chloramine, then removes the ammonia and chlorine, so you are not waiting on the biofilter to clear bound-up ammonia before it reaches the fish. One gallon treats 28,387 US gallons (107,453 L).
Dosing
- Ponds: 1 teaspoon (5 mL) per 37.5 US gallons (141 L), which removes 0.4 mg/L total ammonia
- New tap water and fish bags: 1 teaspoon (about 5 mL) per 25 US gallons (94 L) for each 0.4 mg/L total ammonia
- Safe at up to 10 × the single dose; in ponds, add aeration
Before you use it
- Do not use with permanganate-based or chlorite-based treatments
- Nessler total ammonia tests read falsely high, and Winkler dissolved oxygen tests read falsely low
- Does not affect dissolved oxygen, and reduces the chance of a pH drop
Where it fits
Conditioning new tap water, removing chlorine and chloramine, and protecting fish during shipping. Fish wholesalers and breeders use it for exactly that.
