Overview 8-ounce non-woven geotextile underlay provides a compressible, fibrous cushion between the excavated subbase and the pond liner, protecting the liner from sharp rocks, roots, and subsoil protrusions that can cause punctures over time. The fabric also distributes point loads evenly, reducing stress concentrations on the liner during construction and under stone or gravel placement. The non-woven polypropylene construction is permeable to water, so it does not trap groundwater pressure beneath the liner or impede drainage. It is compatible with all standard pond liner materials including 45-mil EPDM, RPE, and PVC, and is recommended by most liner manufacturers as part of a complete, warranted liner installation.
