Overview CPVC Schedule 80 in 4" (OD 4.500", wall 0.337") is rated at 320 PSI at 73°F and remains serviceable up to 200°F, making it the standard for domestic hot-water distribution, solar thermal piping, and chemical-feed lines where standard PVC would soften or fail. In irrigation and water feature contexts, CPVC is used on pump discharge lines that handle warm water from solar-heated storage, and on chemical-injection headers where chlorine or acid concentrations would degrade standard PVC over time. Manufactured to ASTM F441, CPVC Schedule 80 joins with dedicated CPVC solvent cement and primer; do not use standard PVC cement, which does not achieve a compatible bond. The grey colour (same as PVC Schedule 80) requires field identification via marking or labelling when mixed-material systems are present. NSF 61 listed for potable hot water. CPVC Schedule 80 is compatible with CPVC-rated valves and fittings; standard PVC Schedule 80 fittings share the same OD and can be used with appropriate CPVC cement.
